Simply put –writing down and using a personal vision statement gives all of us perspective on who we are, where we’re going, and where we want to invest our time, talent and money . It is the first step to truly committing to live the life that we choose to lead. Plus – it’s really useful on days when we think – What am I doing again? Why am I doing this?
A helpful vision statement is one that you’ll use. Let it contain your passion and enthusiasm in one or two sentences that you can remember. Questions that can help you form a vision statement:
- Where do you want to go?
- What aspect or quality of life are you trying to improve?
- How can you make a difference every single day?
- What would you like the world to look like?
A handy metaphor: Imagine slowly ascending a mountain by foot. You stop and climb a tree to get a glimpse of where you are going. You see the vista from the tree top and you eagerly descend the tree to keep walking towards your destination.
